Mind Your Risks

challenge

High blood pressure is the leading modifiable risk factor for stroke, cardiovascular disease, and dementia among Black/African Americans. In fact, Black/African Americans are 50% more likely to have high blood pressure when compared to other racial and ethnic groups, and men have the highest rate of uncontrolled blood pressure. While Black/African American men can’t change their genetics, there are many simple and effective lifestyle changes that can help control blood pressure and lower the risk of stroke and dementia later in life.

Results

To help build awareness about this issue  the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) launched a campaign in 2023 called  Mind Your Risks®. The Uniquely Driven team was hired to help generate national attention and interest in the campaign by leveraging its relationships with national and multicultural media outlets. Millions of media impressions were secured in U.S. markets with a higher population of Black men, in addition to numerous national and minority specific publications.
